About Beethoven's Ninth Symphony
The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 "Choral," was completed in 1824 at a time when it's composer was completely deaf. It is one of the best known works in Western music, considered both a masterpiece and a forefather of Romantic music.
Symphony No. 9 incorporates soloists and a chorus in its famous last movement, "Ode to Joy," creating a work of a grand scope that set the tone for the Romantic symphonic form.
