It was a sunny, warm November afternoon in North Texas that found a sizable contingent of Gopher Alumni meet at the Delaney Winery in Grapevine for a very informative tour of this winemaking facility. Unfortunately there were no grapes to stomp on! We did get to follow the path of grapes, to juice, to barrel and finally to bottle.
There were a number of nice Texas wines to sample after we had been properly educated on the wine making process. And we now know that Cabernet Sauvignon is red and that Sauvignon Blanc is white and ... After several tastes, no one cares about the color. It was fun to sample the various varieties and choose the one you like best.
A 50-50 raffle drawing was held to help generate scholarship funds. The lucky winner was our web master who had taken several pictures during the event. With the payout from the raffle, he graciously dropped the thought of using any of the pictures for blackmail! It was a very enjoyable event and we would like to thank the Delaney Winery for being such gracious hosts. | ||||||||||||||||||||
