We’re in the last month of the 2006 Minnesota legislative session, and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association is continuing to rally support for an on-campus football stadium.  Bringing Gopher football back to campus will help build spirit and campus community, strengthen connections to the U, and put in place a structure that will be an enduring asset for the citizens of Minnesota.

Last month, the House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed our stadium bill, which now goes to the Senate floor for a vote by the entire body on Tuesday, May 9.  (The current Senate bill is different than the bill that passed the House a few weeks ago, but if it passes the Senate floor, the differences will be worked out in a conference committee.) 

We need your help to ensure that the Senate passes a Gopher stadium bill.  Please call your senator on Monday, May 8, and encourage him/her to pass a Gopher stadium bill.  And we hope that you will ask your friends, family, and other University supporters to make calls to their senators as well.  The more calls senators get from supportive constituents, the more effective we will be. Your voice can truly make a difference at this important time.
