Promising unprecedented live athletics broadcasts, replays of classic games, and hours of academic programming, the Big Ten Network is ready to launch in August.

The cable channel is already on some of the biggest providers in the Big Ten region and is negotiating with others. Discussion are also underway to show provide the network on cable and satellite stations outside the Big Ten states.

Among the broadcast highlights promised are a show each night wrapping up the day in Big Ten sports, at least 35 football, 105 men's basketball, and 55 women's basketball games, as well as 170 other sporting events. Numerous conference championship and tournament games will also be shown. Each of the 11 Big Ten universities will also provide 60 hours of original academic or other campus programming each year. Coaches shows are also planned.

The network is a collaboration between the Big Ten conference and Fox Sports and is based in Chicago. Many games will be broadcast in high-definition from the day the network begins operation.
