Big Ten Alumni Gather

Big Ten Happy Hour/Business Card Exchange

March 13, 2008 marked an historic day in the DFW area. We witnessed the first event of the Big Ten DFW area Alumni Chapters. The event was the Big Ten Happy Hour/Business Card Exchange. Over 100 DFW Big Ten Alumni also helped Kick-Off the DFW Big Ten Blood Drive Challenge (in cooperation with Carter Bloodcare).

Classic Jerseyville Sports Restaurant (part owned by former Boiler, current Cowboy Akin Ayodele) was the place to be for a great night of Big Ten camaraderie and professional and personal networking.

Complimentary appetizers were provided by Jerseyville. Once those had vanished, Neal Nelson (University of Minnesota Alum, and UMAA – North Texas Chapter Secretary) sprung for another round of appetizers. THANK YOU AND WAY TO GO NEAL!!

More Alumni Signing In

A raffle was held for all those that completed a Big Ten Trivia questionnaire handed out at sign-in to this event. The object was to find alumni from each school and get the answers to school specific questions. Raffle items included a Gene Keady autographed basketball, an OSU football, swallets donated by Gopher alumni Steve Swenson, restaurant coupons, etc.

Too add a little drama to this event participating schools have donated $100 to a scholarship pool.  The school that has the most blood donations between March 7 and September 30 wins the entire pool for their local scholarship fund. The University of Minnesota Alumni Association – North Texas Chapter is one of the participating schools.

This is money that your North Texas Chapter Board of Directors approved to donate. We do not need to pay out if WE WIN!!
