Could this be a future Gopher Hockey player?

No Spurs Here

This was one of the best North Texas Chapter events in recent memory. There was lots of intense hockey, a big crowd of Gopher Alumni (roughly 20 of us), two sponsors and a raffle winner who took away $240 worth of hockey tickets.

The event was the Dallas Stars v Minnesota Wild. The final score was Stars 3, Wild 1 (http://stars.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=Recap&gameNumber=624&season=20072008&gameType=2). The win helped Dallas pull into a first-place tie with San Jose in the Pacific Division, with the Sharks having three games in hand. Even though Minnesota lost, it was an excellent game for us to see as a group!

We would like to thank Maroon Sponsor Fred Pattison (www.fredpattison.com; fred.pattison.b4js@statefarm.com) of State Farm for sponsoring this event with a large supply of Norman Rockwell art calendars and other plastic cups filled with all sorts of little goodies.  Thank you Fred Pattison!!

The Dallas Stars – who also were Maroon Sponsors - have donated to us two preferred seats to the 3/5 game against the Phoenix Coyotes, a $240 value. These two gems were raffled off at $5 per raffle ticket, or 5 for $20. After gathering a total of $105.00 from very eager Gopher Alumni wanting these plum tickets, the lucky winner was Thomas Haase. I don’t know what Thomas was more excited about, watching the Stars v Wild game or winning tickets for the Stars v Coyotes game. Congratulations Thomas Haase. A BIG thanks to the Dallas Stars and John Higgins (JHiggins@DallasStars.com; http://www.dallasstars.com) for having donated these to PLUM tickets. The proceeds from the raffle went directly into the North Texas Chapter Endowed Scholarship.

Post Script

By the time you read this, many of you may already know this: Minnesota Wild To Be Sold To Craig Leipold – Former Owner Of Nashville Redators Who Loves Hockey, Minnesota Style (http://wild.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=349473).

And in case you were wondering about the title, yes I do know the difference between hockey and basketball.
