In a decade of service to the UMAA, College of Liberal Arts graduate and retired brigadier general Dennis Schulstad has been a relentless advocate for the University of Minnesota. As a board member, marketing and membership chair, officer, and finally national president of the UMAA, Schulstad has championed the University’s legislative funding request, intercollegiate athletics, Air Force ROTC, the Landscape Arboretum, the Raptor Center, the Scholars Walk, and the Wall of Discovery.

More recently, he has been a tireless fundraiser and organizer for the new
TCF Bank Stadium and the Veterans Tribute that will be a part of it. The
stadium groundbreaking was a visible milestone in Schulstad’s service. His
most significant achievements, however, have been the records broken in
alumni membership and participation during his leadership. His ability to
nurture the bonds between alumni and alma mater will benefit the University for years to come.
