Get Ready for the Holidays - November 10, 2007

Who did it?

Shrimp, Crab Legs, and “Mein Shaft”

Grab your shovels and watch your step! A moron millionaire miner’s been murdered and Marshal Jim Courtright must dig for clues to find out who got the shaft. Could it be Holly, the love-starved wife with selective hearing who mysteriously left town years ago? Or maybe Olivia, the artistic daughter desperate to paint the wild, wild west? Perhaps the eccentric Major McPhiggis had silver in his sights and was aiming to get revenge. Or could it be that gambler Snake Eyes Roulette has more than aces up his sleeves? It’s a safe bet that with a cast of suspects as dangerous as a runaway mine car filled with black powder, trouble is bound to explode!

Get Ready for the Holidays at the Gaylord Texan Dinner Theater pitted 15 University of Minnesota Alumni and friends against the wild west of Fort Worth, Texas. To bolster our fortitude, we started the event on 10 November 2007 with an open market style, all you can eat dinner buffet that was absolutely delicious. At 8 P.M., the Lone Star Murder Mysteries (http://www.lonestarmurdermysteries.com/index.html) at the Gaylord Texan Hotel & Resort (http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylordtexan/) began its production of “Mein Shaft”. It was hysterical, involved, and is loosely based on  Fort Worth during the 1870’s, when Fort Worth was a booming town with a district sometimes called “Hell’s Half Acre”. To top the evening off, we had our picture taken with the cast.

I think I speak for everyone that we had a fun and eventful evening. The only drawback is that we did not have a sponsor for this event. We have three levels of sponsorship available:

1) Gold Sponsor Level (Corporate),

2) Maroon Sponsor Level, and

3) Gopher Sponsor Level.
