Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon? French Oak Style Wines versus American Oak Style Wines versus Stainless Steel Style wines?

On September 13^th of 2008, the North Texas Chapter of Gopher Alums journeyed to Premier Wines in Plano to learn the above intricacies of wine selection. On tap were samplings of 16 wines including red, white and all in between. Also sampled were California wines, French wines, and South American wines. Paired with that was cheese,

fruit, and assorted chocolates.

Maryann Livengood at Premier Wines of Plano and her staff of wine instructors were excellent at answering our questions and helping us navigate our selection and pairing of wine with food. Which wine do you think goes best with dark chocolate? After roughly two hours of wine sampling, our wine instructor offered us case pricing on ALL wines sampled during class. He also sang to us in Italian – and sang well I might add.
