Intentional Leadership for Future Dental Professionals

The alumni helped the students understand that leadership is more than heading up a successful dental practice. Discussion centered around such topics as:
“How can dentists be leaders in promoting optimal oral health?” and “How can we lead on the issue of meeting the changing needs of a diverse patient population?“
“Leadership is all about elevating the profession,” said one alum, advising the students that dentists need to “be at the ready” to fill leadership positions in public service, the dental products and devices industry, the insurance industry, philanthropic organizations, and other non-practice settings.
The volunteers did a great job of providing a practical, real-life perspective to the training, something alumni do uniquely well.
