When the Minnesota chapter of the Pharmacy Student Alliance needed a chapter adviser several years ago, they didn’t choose a full-time faculty member as in years past. Instead, they tapped College of Pharmacy alumna Julie Johnson because of her support for the alliance and its members’ personal development. She has served as an instructor, mentor, and preceptor to student pharmacists and pharmacy practice residents, all while practicing as a pharmacist and, now, serving as CEO of the Minnesota Pharmacists Association.
A constant advocate for pharmacy education, Johnson has served for five years on the Pharmacy Alumni Society’s board of directors and twice as its president, and has spearheaded and served as coordinator of the college’s Mentorship Program. Her work on behalf of the professional community and dedication to student development have enhanced opportunities for new pharmacy alumni as they enter the field and encourages a continued bond with the University.
