This is a list of development activities that Alumni Association chapters can undertake to support the University of Minnesota fund-raising efforts:

Alumni Association Student Leader Scholarships--The Alumni Association annually funds 20 Leadership Incentive Scholarships (15 merit-based; 5 need-based), which are available to freshmen who have demonstrated leadership based on involvement in school, community activities, and/or family support; or who show leadership potential in non-traditional ways.  In addition, the Alumni Association funds $1000 awards to the University of Minnesota Donald R. Zander Award recipients (one male and one female outstanding student leader) and $500 to eight additional University student leaders.

Chapters may contribute to this fund.  There is no minimum or maximum amount.  Proceeds may come from a variety of sources such as chapter event fees, raffles, auctions, Partnership for Membership Program, sale of merchandise from the Gopher Gear Program, or other chapter fund-raising projects.

Endowed Chapter Scholarships--For endowed chapter scholarships, Alumni Association encourages chapters to work with the University of Minnesota Foundation.  The UMF has guidelines for creating endowed scholarships and can provide advice and assistance to chapter leaders on how to establish an endowed scholarship fund.

Program or Project Support--For chapters that may want to contribute to a University of Minnesota program or project, donations should be coordinated with the development officer of the unit where the program or project has its "home." Proceeds may come from a variety of sources such as chapter event fees, raffles, auctions, Partnership for Membership Program, sale of merchandise from the Gopher Gear Program, or other chapter fund-raising projects.

UMF Planned Giving Seminar—Chapters may host planned giving seminars conducted by the University of Minnesota Foundation.  Chapters, who are interested in sponsoring a UMF Planned Giving Seminar, should contact the Planned Giving Department at UMF.
