Outstanding Alumni Society of the Year Award

Societies are dedicated to building and strengthening the University community by linking alumni to the University of Minnesota. This award recognizes the outstanding total programming efforts of the society in support of the Alumni Association, collegiate unit, and University. 

Award Qualifications

Collegiate Alumni Societies with functioning volunteer boards are eligible to be nominated for the Outstanding Alumni Society of the Year Award.  A society cannot receive both a Program Extraordinaire Award and the Outstanding Society Award in the same year, nor can a society receive this award in two consecutive years.

Award Criteria

The Outstanding Society of the Year standard of excellence will be measured by

  • Programming: Examples of how the society has developed, delivered or contributed to programming that engages alumni.
  • Volunteer Involvement and Membership: Examples of how the society has been successful in recruiting and retaining engaged volunteers, as well as strategies used to increase alumni membership and program participation.   
  • Supporting Information: Qualitative and quantitative examples of what makes this society the Outstanding Alumni Society of the year.

Nomination Requirements

  • Nomination Worksheet of no more than two pages total (see right side-bar)
  • Additional information you would like the awards committee to consider, such as program materials, photographs, etc. no more than three pages in length
