Admitted and Prospective University of Minnesota Students Meet in the North Texas Chapter Area

The University of Minnesota Office of Admissions and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, North Texas Chapter welcomed 12 admitted and prospective students. The twelve students and their family met in the North Texas Chapter area with the Office of Admissions and North Texas Chapter Alumni. Desiree Keenan from the Office of Admissions gave a power point presentation to our guests that blew their socks off. Roughly ten North Texas Chapter Alumni sat in on Desiree’s presentation to the students and their parents. All said and done, about forty people were there at this first ever event in the North Texas Chapter.

North Texas Chapter Alumni members brought plenty of food to eat e.g. home-made cookies, ham, taquitos, chips, and home-made pound cake to name a few. The North Texas Chapter also developed

a Trivia Quiz for the admitted and prospective students to take so to gauge their Gopher IQ. Student Howard, son of U of M Alumni Xiaohui (Max) Song, Ph.D. got a perfect score and took home the grand prize awarded by Desiree Keenan.

University of Minnesota Office of Admissions representative Desiree Keenan brought orientation packets and delivered an awesome PowerPoint presentation to those in attendance. Additionally, Desiree was in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for the whole week, visiting many of the area high schools who expressed interest in the University of Minnesota

Desiree Keenan from the Office of Admissions notes that at the reception, we spoke with sophomores, juniors and admitted seniors who had a strong interest in the University of Minnesota. Everyone, parents and students alike, had wonderful questions and comments regarding the U of M. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to bring a little bit of the U of M, and a lot of Gopher spirit, to North Texas! During my week there, I visited several high schools and saw approximately 120 students! The Office of Admissions, along with the North Texas Alumni Chapter, are very excited to see this event continue to grow in years to come!
