Forget the old adage that good things come in small packages. When the 50,000-seat TCF Bank Stadium opens in September 2009, it will be one of only a handful of LEED-certified stadiums in the country, that is, a green stadium. LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is a rating system that’s part of an international effort to construct buildings that are more energy-efficient and less polluting than those built to current standards.
