| Students are the University’s alumni of the future and serve as ambassadors to current and future graduates through their involvement and leadership with alumni programming and activities. This award celebrates an exceptional individual who has shared time and talents to engage alumni through their commitment and excitement that supports his/her college and the Alumni Association.
Award Qualifications
All students with full- or part-time student status during the 2008-09 academic year are eligible for the Student Volunteer of the Year Award.
Award Criteria
Decisions will be based on volunteerism that occurred between June 1, 2008 and May 31, 2009 and include:
- Nominee’s Engagement: The nominee’s engagement in alumni-focused programs/activities presented by collegiate units or the Alumni Association
- Quantitative Measurement: Quantitative measurement of the impact of the nominee’s volunteerism: amount of time invested in alumni-focused work and measurable growth in alumni membership and program participation as a result of their volunteerism
- Summary of the nominee’s work throughout the year: Include specific examples through observations, stories and/or feedback from colleagues, volunteers and event/program participants.
Nomination Requirements
- Nomination Worksheet of no more than two pages total (see right side-bar)
- A Recommendation Letter from Nominator of no more than one page: - Describe how long, and in what capacity, you have known the nominee. - Describe the nominee’s outstanding contributions in volunteer service to alumni programming of their college and the Alumni Association during the past year. Provide specific examples and measurement of how the nominee went above and beyond in service to alumni including the significance and impact of the nominee’s work. - Provide specific examples of the personal qualities that make this nominee an outstanding volunteer leader.
