Our Maroon & Gold Fridays Photo Contest is open to all campus groups, organizations and departments, formal and informal. Since the goal of maroon and Gold Fridays is to build spirit on campus, we ask that entries be limited to student, staff and faculty-related groups based on or around the Twin Cities campus. Thank you!

Theme: Each contest will have a theme. For example, our first contest is "Autumn Gophers." What does that mean? Well, that's up to you. Fall colors, fall sports, fall storing away the patio furniture ... how you interpret it is up to you. Then, set up a maroon and gold photo that illustrates the theme. The contest in late October is "Marching into the Future." (Think you could do better? Submit a theme suggestion here.)

Submit your photos: Each contest will have a photo submission deadline, usually a Monday at noon. The current deadline is Noon, Monday, October 27. Everyone who submits a photo will recieve a coupon for 20 percent off a maroon and gold apparel purchase at the U of M Bookstore. Photos are submitted online via our handy photo submission form.

Voting: The fun continues after the deadline. A committee will review all the submissions and select three to five finalists. These will be posted on the Maroon and Gold Fridays page Monday afternoon. Voting begins as soon as the finalists are selected and runs through noon the following Monday. Any obvious attempts to manipulate results, such as computerized voting programs, will result in disqualification at the judges discretion.

The winner: Once voting has ended, the top vote-getter will be announced and the next contest launched. All contest information and winners will be posted on this Web site and will be distributed by an E-mail update. Why not sign up to get the updates so you'll be among the first to know?

The prize: In addition to priceless bragging rights, each contest features a fabulous prize for a large number of people. Our current contest offers a U Theatre experience for a group of 10 with dinner at Town Hall Brewery.
