 | | Smile! You're on Gopher-cam! |
On June 10, 2005 the Frisco Roughriders played against the San Antonio Missions at Frisco to a sold out crowd of very loyal fans. Both teams | | Why is everyone so serious? Are we losing? | stayed very much tied throughout the entire game until the ninth inning when the Missions provided some very dramatic playing and pulled away to a final score of 10 to 5 over the Roughriders.
The | | What? I didn't win the 50-50? | members of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association North Texas Association converged upon the Dr. Pepper/7 UP Ballpark. We not only watched the ballgame but also Deuce and The Colonel & Thunder strut their stuff. You had to be there to understand. In addition | | Were you an empty seat? Too bad! You missed it! | to watching what was going on in the field, we also had our own activities. As part of the $15 cost of tickets, we enjoyed an American staple for baseball watching – hotdogs, chips, and fountain drink. We also had our almost world famous raffle. At $1 a ticket, we sold 52 chances to win half the kitty and lots of M and Gopher merchandise. Everyone was | | Is this a Golden Gopher? | able to take home something. The grand prize winner Chris Emerson had the lucky ticket to take home half the kitty. Chris was the real star of the evening. He generously plowed back his winnings to the North Texas Chapter and our scholarship fund. Cheers and accolades to Chris!! The icing on the cake was the | | Not with that beer belly!!!! | fireworks display after the game. We are not talking about some small firecrackers being set off by a second rate outfit. This show could be seen from blocks away, and went on for fifteen minutes.
The | | But kids like him! | chapter wants to thank Christa Emerson, Bradley Carroll, and Larry Katzung for pulling this event off. All three took the initiative in organizing this fantastic event and shows what volunteerism is all about. Thank you gang!! Way to go!!
