Gopher Football Road Trip: 2009 Season Opener at Syracuse
9/5/2009
Gopher Football season is less than two months away and this year, the season begins September 5 in the state of New York!

The University of Minnesota Alumni Association Greater New York Chapter has secured a limited number of tickets for the 2009 season opener vs. the Syracuse Orange for fans who would like to spend part of their Labor Day weekend supporting the Minnesota Golden Gopher Football Team.

About a four-hour drive from New York City--the same distance from Minneapolis to Madison--Syracuse, New York provides the familiar feel of playing in a dome before the Gophers head back home to open the new TCF Bank Stadium.  The Gophers and Orange have faced off just twice in their respective histories, playing a two-game series in the mid-1990s. The home team won both matchups, with Minnesota falling on the road in 1995 and avenging that loss the next season.

Kickoff is at noon ET and a pre-game tailgate will be provided by the Goal Line Club, the Official Booster Club of Golden Gopher Football.

Thus we have provided a hotel option for interested travelers who'd prefer to travel to Syracuse on Friday Night.  We have reserved ablock of rooms at the Holiday Inn in Liverpool New York for $129 a night plus taxes and fees.  To reserve your room, please call 315-457-1122 and mention you are part of the Minnesota group to obtain the best rate during New York's state fair weekend. This discount is not available to any other groups.
