An alumnus who earned undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Minnesota, Eugene Ollila has been a dedicated volunteer for decades. A 13-year member of the Medical Alumni Society Board of Directors, he served four years as its president, as well as two terms as the Medical School’s representative on the University of Minnesota Alumni Association national board.

A physician who views continuous learning as the key to providing the most appropriate care for patients, Dr. Ollila has applied that philosophy to strengthening alumni bonds while enhancing student experiences. He developed the Alumni Hosting Applicants program, which pairs prospective medical students with local alumni, and he quadrupled alumni and community participation in the Medical School’s Connections Mentoring Program. His contributions will strengthen relationships between present and future physicians for many years to come.
