The recipient of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Margot Siegel holds the unique distinction of being an alumna not only of the College of Liberal Arts, but also of the University High School at the University of Minnesota. For more than 30 years, she has been the driving force behind what was initially the College of Human Ecology’s Goldstein Gallery. Her commitment led her to found the Friends of the Goldstein Gallery in order to support the museum’s mission of outreach.
Siegel has worked tirelessly to increase the Goldstein’s public visibility, build its collection, curate exhibits, encourage financial, community, and volunteer support for its operations. Her vision has seen the gallery through its transition to become the Goldstein Museum of Design and informs her role on the College of Design’s advisory board. Siegel’s contributions to the interpretation of contemporary fashion as a design and cultural legacy will benefit the University and its students for many years to come.
